Start-Up Enterprise of the Future: Istanbul Traffic is Transforming into Clean Energy

While Istanbul is still known as the most populated city in Europe, 3.8 million vehicles are on the road on average every day, and this number is increasing day by day.

The electricity-generating wind turbines on the bus routes and the side of the stops are seen by people who live in İstanbul every day. Enlil Vertical Axis Wind Turbine was developed jointly with Istanbul technical University (ITU) research assistants and the start-up company Devecitech. Generating electricity through the wind generated by vehicles passing through the streets of Istanbul, especially on the E-5 highway, and by the solar panels on these cylinders is actually Enlil's basic working principle.

Kerem Develi, CEO of Develitech and architect of the Enlil project, said that the steep, thin iron propellers on the Enlils can produce 1 kilowatt of electrical energy per hour, and each Enlil can supply the electrical energy of two houses in Turkey.

These propellers have a lifespan of approximately 20 years and are very simple to transport, install and assemble. In addition, the fact that known wind turbines are small in size and can be used even in small places gives Enlil a great advantage.
