Data from the first comprehensive global assessment of food insecurity since the start of the Covid-19 pandemic shows that the number of people affected by chronic hunger has increased more in 2020 than in the previous five years combined.
'The World State of Food Security and Nutrition 2021' (SOFI) report shows that developing countries are most vulnerable to hunger, although they contribute very little to CO2 emissions.
It is also mentioned that due to the closure of schools during the Covid-19 pandemic, more than 149 million children were deprived of their school meals in 2020, causing developmental delay.
